TECUMSEH — The Tecumseh City Council has approved ballot language for a revised city charter.
Tecumseh’s current charter is over 70 years old, and despite several amendments over the years, still references outdated language and processes, with little acknowledgement of state statute.
Following a revision process that lasted nearly two years and saw the election of a charter commission, the revised charter was approved by Governor Gretchen Whitmer on July 22nd of this year.
Last Monday, the City Council voted unanimously to approve the “yes or no” ballot language for the proposal, which is expected to be certified by the County Clerk by Tuesday.
Tecumseh residents will then decide whether or not to adopt the charter during the November 4th election.
