JACKSON — American 1 Credit Union is partnering with the Michigan Department of Corrections at Parnall Correctional Facility in Jackson to provide financial wellness education for incarcerated individuals preparing for release.
As part of the facility’s Vocational Village program, the credit union’s Financial Wellness team is teaching skills like budgeting, understanding credit reports, and building strong credit. The goal is to help future parolees navigate the modern financial system and make informed decisions after release.
American 1 Credit Union says the partnership supports its mission to create financial wellness across the communities it serves. The credit union also offers coaching, classes, and a Fresh Start program for residents working to rebuild credit.
American 1 Credit Union serves more than 66,000 members across five counties and is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.
