BLISSFIELD — The Village of Blissfield Planning Commission has voted to revoke a Special Land Use Permit for the property at 415 East Adrian Street in Blissfield.

At a special meeting Tuesday night, the Planning Commission held a public hearing on the matter, which saw public comment from three Blissfield residents and the property owner.

The property, formerly a machine shop, had been purchased by its current owner in 2015, under the expectation that it would be converted into an auto repair and towing business, but residents had expressed concern that it was being underused and turning blighted.

The owner claimed that he had fallen behind on maintaining the property due to medical issues and declining sales.

Commissioners noted that they had warned the owner multiple times that he was violating the Village Zoning Ordinance by leaving vacant cars around the property and misusing semi-trailers as storage units, and that he had missed multiple deadlines to remedy the situation.

The Commission voted to revoke the permit in a 4 to 1 roll call vote.
