ADRIAN — The Adrian Board of Education has approved a $5.4 million contract to launch a district-wide energy efficiency project.

Adrian Public Schools will partner with Trane to lead the upgrades. The project includes replacing the aging steam boiler at Adrian High School and improving insulation, windows, and doors at multiple buildings.

The high school boiler is scheduled for replacement in summer 2026, while building envelope upgrades will begin in 2025.

Funding includes $3.7 million in school improvement bonds, which will be repaid through guaranteed energy savings, meaning no tax increase for residents.

Another $1.5 million comes from the district’s Capital Projects Fund.

Superintendent Nate Parker said the work is part of a long-term facilities plan made possible by years of careful financial planning.

Officials say the project will cut energy costs and improve comfort for students and staff.
