Addison Community Schools Millage Proposal

addison

ADDISON — Addison Community Schools is asking voters to renew its operating millage this November.

The ballot proposal would authorize the district to levy up to 19 mills on non-homestead properties from 2025 through 2030. That includes businesses, rental properties, and second homes, but not a taxpayer’s primary residence.

Eighteen of those mills require the district to receive full state funding under Michigan’s per-pupil foundation allowance. The remaining one mill serves as a cushion to restore funding if the millage is reduced under the Headlee Amendment.

If approved, the district estimates it would collect just over $21,000 from 0.0931 mills in 2025, and more than $4.1 million from the full 18 mills in 2026.

The current millage expires with the 2025 tax levy. This proposal would replace it without changing the overall rate.

The proposal applies to property in Lenawee, Hillsdale, and Jackson counties.
