BLISSFIELD — Gerber Park in Lenawee County is now home to a brand-new musical playground, thanks to a state amenities grant through MSHDA’s “My Neighborhood 1.0” program.
The project features seven large outdoor instruments and is part of a broader community initiative to create family-friendly spaces. Reseeding around the installation is planned for this fall.
To celebrate, the Parks Commission is hosting a ribbon-cutting picnic on August 18 at 5:00 PM. Officials hope to welcome representatives from MSHDA, the Great Start Collaborative, and the ISD to mark the completion of both the musical playground and an upcoming Story Walk installation for children.
MSHDA liaison Francine Misch is encouraging community members to send letters or photos of support, which may help restore funding for future rounds of the grant.
The event serves both as a community celebration and a show of advocacy for state-level investment in local parks.
