Stolen Jeeps Recovered After High-Speed Chase in Monroe County

MONROE CO. — Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough is reporting a fleeing and eluding incident that occurred early Monday morning, resulting in the recovery of two stolen Jeep Wranglers.

At around 1 a.m. on July 21, Monroe County deputies were alerted that three stolen Jeeps had crossed into Michigan from Ohio.

Shortly after, deputies and other local agencies observed the vehicles speeding through the county. Two separate pursuits began near Stewart Road and North Monroe Street.

Both drivers eventually left the roadway and fled on foot, one near South Stony Creek Road and the other off I-75 in heavy vegetation.

Despite a search effort involving multiple departments, both suspects remain at large.

The recovered vehicles have been towed.
