ADRIAN — The Lenawee County Health Department’s personal health division is reporting strong marks and fresh funding after a busy quarter.
At the July Board of Health meeting, department leaders announced that all personal health programs received exceptional reviews during the recent state accreditation process. For both the director and many staff members, this was the first time through accreditation, and officials say the team’s performance exceeded expectations.
The department also secured an additional $10,000 grant to support its screening program for social determinants of health, building on an earlier $26,000 award. That funding helps address food insecurity, transportation needs, and access to medications.
One major use of the funds has been the distribution of Veggie Mobile coupons. In the last quarter alone, the department handed out 136 vouchers to help residents access fresh produce. They’re also looking to expand the program through local grocers and winter-access markets.
Clinics remain active, though the department’s nurse practitioner is expected to begin maternity leave in the coming weeks.
