MONROE CO. — Authorities in Monroe County have identified and charged a suspect in a serious injury hit-and-run crash that occurred last month in Frenchtown Township.
The crash took place on the night of June 21st on North Dixie Highway, northeast of I-75. Two pedestrians — 40-year-old Connie Cosby and 40-year-old Anthony Keister, both of Monroe — were struck while walking northbound across the road.
The driver, identified as 36-year-old Michael D. Kennedy II of Monroe, allegedly fled the scene in a blue 2009 Ford Fusion.
Following an investigation, deputies located the severely damaged vehicle inside an unattached garage at a residence on North Stoney Creek Road. Kennedy was arrested on June 23rd and lodged in the Monroe County Jail.
He was formally charged the next day with two counts of failing to stop at the scene of a crash resulting in serious injury or death. Bond was set at $75,000 cash or surety by Judge Eicher in Monroe County 1st District Court.
