MACOMB CO. — A 79-year-old Macomb County woman has won $1 million playing the Michigan Lottery’s Smokin’ Hot Million instant game.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Kroger store on 23 Mile Road in Shelby Township. The woman, who chose to remain anonymous, says she bought five tickets and scratched them at home, stunned to see she had hit the jackpot.
She shared the news with her husband and later surprised her children by revealing the ticket in person.
The player opted for a one-time lump sum payout of about $693,000. She plans to share her winnings with family, take a cruise, and “pay it forward.”
