
JACKSON — A fire has destroyed Thayer Marine in Summit Township. The blaze broke out Wednesday morning and has forced the continued closure of U.S. 127 south of Jackson.
MLive reports that employees spotted smoke and flames coming from the boat service department’s roof just after 8 a.m., prompting an emergency response.
Despite efforts to contain it, the fire caused extensive damage. No injuries have been reported.
As of this morning, U.S. 127 remains closed near the scene, and drivers are urged to seek alternate routes. WLEN News has reached out to the Jackson Fire Department and are waiting for comment.
