
ADRIAN — The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has issued a public health alert for ready-to-eat beef jerky stick products that may contain plastic.
The affected products were produced by Top Notch Jerky, LLC on May 27 and include Riverbend Ranch Original and Jalapeño Beef Sticks with a best by date of November 27, 2026.
The products were distributed nationwide, including Puerto Rico. Officials said the issue was discovered after consumer complaints reported finding transparent pieces of plastic in the jerky sticks.
No injuries or illnesses have been confirmed.
Although the products are no longer available for sale, some may still be in consumers’ pantries.
Consumers are urged not to eat these products and should throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.
