LANSING — Senator Joseph Bellino and four Senate Republican colleagues introduced a legislative package Tuesday to reinstate Michigan’s Right to Work laws and repeal prevailing wage requirements.
Bellino, who represents Monroe, Lenawee, and parts of Hillsdale, said the changes are needed to make Michigan more competitive for businesses and to lower costs for public projects.
The proposed package includes Senate Bill 440, which would repeal prevailing wage rules for alternative energy projects. Other bills in the package would restore Right to Work in both the private and public sectors and remove prevailing wage mandates for public utilities and other state-funded projects.
Right-to-work laws were repealed in 2023. The new bills are now under consideration by the Senate.
