SALINE — The Saline City Council has voted to offer the city manager position to Dan Swallow.
The council voted four to three in favor of Swallow, who currently serves as Tecumseh’s city manager and is a Saline resident.
The motion to hire Swallow was made by Councillor Jack Ceo and seconded by Councillor Nicole Rice. Councillor Chuck Lesch and Mayor Brian Marl supported it. Councillors Dean Girbach, Jenn Harmount, and Janet Dillon voted against the motion.
Swallow was one of two candidates interviewed Monday. Acting City Manager Elle Cole was also considered for the position and received support from all three opposing votes.
Mayor Marl confirmed that Cole will remain Acting City Manager until the hiring process is finalized.
The city’s consultant, Nate Geinzer of Double Haul, assisted with the recruitment process.
The selection process followed multiple rounds of interviews and public discussion.
