David William Morrison, age 75, formally from Hillman, Michigan, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025, in Pontiac, Michigan, surrounded by his family, after a year long battle with cancer. David was born in Monroe, Michigan to Harvey and Marjorie Morrison on June 19, 1950.  The Morrison family moved to Hillman in April of 1956.  Dave started flying at the age of 14, thanks to Mr. Edward Goosens for this introduction.  He received his pilot’s license in 1966; his flying career became a highlight of his life and taught him so many life lessons.  He graduated from Hillman High School in 1968 and then proceeded to serve in the National Guard. Dave spent the next 40 years in the home building industry, many years as a custom builder under his own business, Dave Morrison Builders. His experience over the years spanned across Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. In more recent years, he offered his services as a consultant. He also immensely enjoyed working on various projects for family and friends over the years, including the family cottage on Long Lake which was near and dear to his heart.  His hobbies included becoming a glider pilot, as well as building and flying many remote control airplanes. He also had a passion for cooking and baking; making and decorating cookies for his family and friends, he especially loved sending his grandchildren boxes of homemade treats for every occasion.  He is survived by his sisters, Rhonda (Jim) Brown, Beth Morrison (Charles Guiterrez), brother Doug Morrison, his beloved daughter, Hillary (Joshua) Olance and grandchildren, Grant (19), Olivia (17) and Gage (14), of Gilbert, Arizona, and many special nieces, nephews and friends. He is also survived by his loving partner Joanne Madigan, with whom he spent his final years and had many fun adventures with in California and in Michigan.  Proceeding him in death were his parents, Harvey and Marjorie, sister Susan Smethurst, brother-in-Law David Smethurst and nephew Neil Morrison.  A message he left for family and friends “Be kind, and give thanks to God each day for the beauty that surrounds you. Be patient. You are never alone…walking with God each day will provide you with the strength you need to face challenges.”  Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at the Hillman United Methodist Church, 111 Maple St. Hillman, MI 49746. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, with services beginning at 1:00 PM immediately following. A private burial will be held. Arrangements with Purse Funeral Home.  www.PurseFuneralHome.com
