ADRIAN — Raisin Township Fire Department will begin monthly tornado siren tests starting this Saturday, June 14.
The tests will occur at noon on the second Saturday of each month and last two to three minutes. If severe weather is present in the area on a scheduled test day, the siren test will be postponed until the following Saturday.
Officials remind residents that tornado sirens are not designed to be heard indoors and should not be their primary warning system.
They are intended to alert those who are outside and may be away from phones or TVs. Primary alerts should come from weather radios, TV broadcasts, or cellphone alerts.
Residents are encouraged to sign up for Lenawee County emergency notifications to receive severe weather alerts directly to their phones.
