TECUMSEH — Creek Enterprises has begun installation of new EV charging stations in downtown Tecumseh. The project will place electric vehicle infrastructure in the northeast parking lot through a five-year partnership agreement with the city.

City Manager Dan Swallow announced the plan during the June 5 meeting of the Tecumseh Events, Activities, and Marketing Committee. The stations are being installed and maintained by Creek Enterprises, a local firm. Officials said the project is partially offset by energy rebates issued through Consumers Energy.

The total value of the EV charging station installation is estimated at $30,000. The city will not assume maintenance responsibilities or upfront costs under the agreement. Instead, Creek Enterprises will cover installation, operation, and servicing while the city licenses the lot space.

The location of the stations was selected for visibility and accessibility. The northeast lot has high traffic during community events and downtown business hours.

The agreement with Creek Enterprises is set to last five years. Officials said this initial phase will help gauge demand for future EV infrastructure in other downtown lots or public facilities.
