ADRIAN — Yew Park may be disappearing — but city officials say green space is far from forgotten.
City spokesperson Jay Marks says new green areas are already in the works. The Townsquare project will create fresh public space on Maiden Lane and bring life back to vacant lots at 116 and 120 North Main.
More trees are coming, too — over 70 of them — lining Maple, Winter, and Maumee as part of the Winter Street Bike and Walk Loop, set for 2026.
Jay Marks, the executive director of Adrian’s Main Street and Downtown Development Authority Board, said, “The longer-term goal is to revitalize the Riverfront into a park. Exposing the river and creating a space the city can be proud of similar to Comstock Park.”
Marks says the long-term goal is a full riverfront park — something like Comstock Park — with exposed river views and room to gather.
In the meantime, expect added greenery near the North Winter Street lot once utility lines get relocated.
Parking shifted, trees incoming — the city says this is all part of a bigger picture.
