ADRIAN — On Monday, a fallen hero will be brought home and laid to rest.
Ralph Mourer gave his life during World War II when his plane was shot down in 1944. Eighty years later, his remains were finally found. Staff Sergeant Ralph Mourer, originally from Colorado, was the radio operator on Little Joe.
On June 20, 2024, his missing-in-action status was changed to ‘Accounted For,’ and a rosette was placed next to Mourer’s name.
Mourer’s family has long since passed, with burial sites stretching across various states. His only son, whom he was carrying at the time of his death, Victor Lavon Mourer, is buried in Oakwood Cemetery. Now, Ralph will be buried next to the son he never was able to meet.
