MANITAOU BEACH — A house fire near Geneva Highway sent thick black smoke over Round Lake Monday afternoon, drawing a multi-agency response.
Crews from Addison, Cambridge, Hudson, and Somerset fire departments responded to the scene, where flames and smoke were visible above the trees and across the lake.
Two nearby construction workers spotted the fire and ran over to help, guiding firefighters down the drive to the home.
Three dogs were inside the house at the time but made it out safely. The man who was home was also able to escape but was taken to the hospital for evaluation. His condition has not been released.
