Susan Kay Williams, age 74, a lifelong resident of Sand Creek, died Tuesday afternoon, May 13, 2025, surrounded by her family while under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. She was born January 24, 1951, in Adrian, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Fraye (McCullough) Simmons.
Susan was a 1969 graduate of Sand Creek High School and later worked there for over 30 years as a custodian and playground supervisor, and she thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the students. On September 26, 1968, she married the love of her life, Garner Gene Williams, at Faith Lutheran Church in Metamora, Ohio. Together they raised two sons and shared over 56 years of devoted companionship. They became faithful members of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Adrian.
Sue was blessed with several memorable cruise trips over the years. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, the challenge of a crossword puzzle, flower gardening, and knitting. Her greatest joy by far was received from being in the company of her beloved family, especially her kids and grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two sons, Travis Williams and Tony (Jenee) Williams both of Adrian; a brother, Ron (Lilly) Simmons of The Villages, FL; and four grandchildren, Cassidy, Carli, Toree, and Brady. She was preceded in death by her parents and two of her brothers, Robert and Kenneth “Jimmy” Simmons.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 1-5 p.m., at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home in Adrian. A funeral service for Susan will be held on Monday, May 19, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Joel Sarrault officiating. Burial will follow in Sand Creek Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in honor of Susan are suggested to benefit St. John’s Lutheran Church or Hospice of Lenawee.
