Nancy E. Ruder – Osseo

NANCY E. RUDER, age 89 years of Osseo, died early Friday morning, May 9, 2025, at Hillsdale Hospital. She was born on March 28, 1936, in Williamston, Michigan, the daughter of Robert E. and Ruth L. (Bickford) Bloom. Nancy graduated from Williamston High School in 1954, and later MSU with a BA in Education. She met her soulmate, Glen D. Ruder at MSU and they were married, June 21, 1958 in Williamston. He preceded her in death on June 15, 2017.

Nancy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who put her teaching career on hold while raising her family. She taught home economics at several local schools, with the majority of her 30 years at Jonesville High School. Nancy was a member of the Pittsford Congregational Church, North Adams Lions Club, Adams Grange #286 and MARSP of Hillsdale County. She enjoyed reading, gardening and spending time with family. Nancy was dearly loved by all who had the pleasure of making her acquaintance. She will be dearly missed.

Nancy is survived by her son, Dale (Susan Lynne) Ruder; four daughters, Susan Berkeypile, Sharon Ruder, Diane Grubbs and Carol Gates; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a brother, Joe Bloom; a sister, Joann McCrum and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Karen Armstrong; two son-in-laws, Howard Berkeypile and David Armstrong, a brother, Russell Bloom, three sisters, Lois Cooper, Helen Towersey and Judy Bloom.

A funeral service for Nancy will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at the Eagle-Marry Funeral Home in Hudson with Pastor Terry Bobzein and Pastor Don Lee officiating. Cremation will follow and interment will take place at a later date in Northlawn Cemetery near North Adams. The family will receive friends for a visitation at the Eagle-Marry Funeral Home, Hudson, on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, from 3-7 P.M.

Memorial contributions in honor of Nancy are suggested to be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
