ADRIAN — Lenawee County will move forward with its annual scrap tire collection event — even though state funding has yet to arrive.
Solid Waste Coordinator Julie Maurer announced during Wednesday’s Materials Management Planning Committee meeting that the event will be held using county funds this year due to delays in the state grant approval process.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 31st, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Lenawee County Fairgrounds. In addition to tires, the collection will accept Styrofoam and packing materials.
Maurer also noted the high cost of a recent repair to the Department of Operations Services cardboard compactor, but said both units are now operational.
