
Leona A. Leathers, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister in-law, aunt and cherished friend, passed away at her home in Hudson, MI, surrounded by her family on March 21, 2025. She was born on May 30, 1952, in Detroit, MI, to Leonard and Betty (Bostick) Teschendorf, who have preceded her in death. Leona’s life spanned a remarkable 72 years, filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community.
On April 28, 1969, Leona married her soulmate, Roy Leathers, in Mt. Clemens, MI. Their bond flourished over the decades, culminating in a beautiful 55-year marriage filled with love and cherished memories, they were just over a month shy of celebrating their 56th anniversary.
Leona is survived by her devoted husband Roy, her daughter Tracy Steiner of Hudson, MI, and her son Bill (Sarah) Leathers of Napoleon, MI. She was also a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren: Dustin Hinkley, Channel Deakins, Cheyanne Ballard, Alex Leathers, Kallie Leathers, Dylan Leathers, Payge Leathers, and Zach Williams. 5 siblings; Lois (Jack) Reeder, Sherry (Terry) Frandle, Karen (Bill) Barwiler, Connie (Chuck) Lewis and Bobbie (Bob) Beach The joy of her life included her 13 great-grandchildren, whose laughter brought light to her later years.
She was preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Betty, and sister Linda Teschendorf.
Professionally, Leona dedicated herself to her work, having spent over 20 years at Fayette Tubular, followed by positions at Rima Manufacturing and 127 Party Store. She retired from ProMedica after 18 years, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication. Beyond her career, Leona was an active member of the 4-H community, where her passion for teaching clowning helped inspire and entertain countless children. Leona’s love for line dancing was infectious; she not only enjoyed it but also dedicated years to teaching others the joy of dance. Her love for bowling and camping with Roy were cherished hobbies, but nothing brought her more happiness than the time spent with her family.
The family will receive friends for visitation at the Eagle-Marry Funeral Home, Hudson, on Wednesday March 26, 2025, from 1:00 pm until the memorial service begins at 2:00 pm. Pastor Darren Lemmon will officiate.
