Adrian, MI – The HOPE Community Center, in Adrian, is currently fundraising to purchase a 15-passenger van to improve transportation for their members to and from activities in the community… and volunteering. Mary Martin, Interim Executive Director, told WLEN News that they have an anonymous donor giving a $25,000 matching gift challenge towards the purchase of the van.

Martin talked to WLEN News about the van, saying that the vehicle is “more than transportation”…

Martin also told WLEN News a 15-passenger van would help HOPE keep a consistent and reliable schedule for events, whether that be excursions for the members or volunteer opportunities. What does HOPE Center staff do now? Martin said that the people that work with the public transportation system locally are great, but cannot be as on-demand as the HOPE Center would like them to be…

Martin told WLEN News that the community has been generous so far, and that they are hoping to have matched the $25,000 by May 1st. The van would not be used for transportation to-and-from Hope members’ homes to the center on Baker Street. So, how do you donate? Martin described the online and through the mail options…
