
Lydia Guzman, age 78, of Blissfield, MI, passed away, February 25, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 3, 1946, in Blissfield, MI, the daughter of Casimiro & Maria (Navarro) Madrid. In 1967 she married Felipe Guzman in Adrian, MI. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Above all, she loved spending time with her family. Her hobbies included crocheting, which she crocheted all of her nieces, nephews and grandchildren’s baby blankets. Lydia also loved to play bingo and card games at which she was very competitive. She also loved her novelas. Grandma Guzman helped to care for all the kids at her daughters daycare and significantly touched so many lives. She was a member of the Women’s American Legion Auxillary, Post 325 Blissfield. Lydia treated everyone she met like family and will be forever remembered for her loving ways, her sense of humor and her delicious Mexican food. Lydia is survived by her husband, Felipe R. Guzman, Jr.; her son, Felipe “Phil” Guzman III; her daughter, Sonya (Kenny) Coopshaw; grandchildren, Andrew Coopshaw, Lucas (Megan) Coopshaw; and two great grandchildren, Asher and Annie Coopshaw. She was preceded in death by her parents; father in law and mother in law, Felipe & Maria (Ramirez) Guzman; seven brothers, Tony (Nena) Martinez, Jim (Mary) Martinez, Ray (Angie) Martinez, Henry (Emily) Martinez, Paul Martinez, David (Ana) Martinez, Rufus (Emily) Madrid; two sisters, Louisa (Joe) Valdez and Ascencion (Rufus) Cruz; one niece, Beatrice Martinez; and nephews, Ernie Martinez, Ray Martinez Jr. and Paul “Chico” Martinez and Anthony Martinez and one great nephew. Alex Wallace. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, March 3, 2025, at Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI, with Pastor Dylan Chicoine officiating.
