We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Holly (Scharer) Carrico, who left us after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Holly passed peacefully on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at the Hospice of Lenawee Home surrounded by the love of her family.
Holly was born in Adrian, MI on May 6, 1951, the loving daughter of Walter and Doloris (Bird) Scharer. She graduated from Adrian High School in 1969 and remained a member of the community throughout her life.
Holly dedicated 20 years of her professional life as a Paraprofessional at Adrian Public Schools, where she made a lasting impact on the lives of countless students. Prior to her tenure with the school system, Holly chose to dedicate her time as a stay-at-home mom, where she expressed her love through gardening and cooking, passions that brought her great joy.
Her retirement years were spent helping to raise her grandsons, Cole and Brady, watching them grow and thrive every week. If she wasn’t working or taking care of the grandkids, you could see her walking one of her Schnauzer’s Simon or Alvin. Holly’s legacy is one of love, dedication, and selflessness, and she will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Holly took great pride in her family and is survived by her two devoted sons, Cary (Maria) Carrico of Adrian and Ben Carrico of Naples, FL; grandsons, Cole Carrico of Ann Arbor, MI and Brady Carrico of Chicago, IL; and her brother, Jody Scharer of Adrian.
In honor of Holly’s life and the loving memories she leaves behind, a memorial service will be held to celebrate her remarkable journey. Holly’s service will be on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian, with Rev Larry Betz officiating. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the service begins. Please join us in remembering Holly and the incredible impact she had on her family and community.
