Richard Morgan Halsey, age 88, of Adrian, MI, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025 at Lenawee Medical Care Facility in Adrian, MI surrounded by his family. He was born on May 29, 1936 in Janesville, WI a son of the late Maynard Franklin and Alice Burnett (Stavn) Halsey. On February 10, 1964 in Tecumseh, MI he married Carrie J. Rucker and they shared 57 years together before her passing in 2021. Richard proudly served in the U.S. Navy and then went on to work for Kreighoff of Lenawee for many years before retiring in 1998. He was a member of Adrian Church of Christ and Michigan Laborers Union LiUNA Local 499. Richard enjoyed fishing, cruising and especially spending time with his family.
Richard is survived by his children, Lauri (Don) Sewell of Adrian, MI, Kati Halsey of Addison and Joel (Kerri) Halsey of Knoxville, TN; a sister, Mildred (Lee) Schultz of Belfair, WA; four grandchildren, Haley and Taylor McGill, Ethan Sewell and Danner Halsey; one great-grandchild, Klayton McGill; a niece, Teri (Todd) Anthony; a great-nephew, Mitch (Hailee) Anthony and a great-niece, Britney (Zechariah) Friedrich. Along with his wife and parents, Richard is preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Leon Halsey.
A funeral service for Richard will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at 1pm at the Tecumseh Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes with Pastor Tom Hawkins officiating. Visitation will be from 5pm-8pm Tuesday, January 28, 2025 as well as from 12pm until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Tecumseh with military honors performed under the auspices of the Tecumseh American Legion Post #34 and VFW Post #4187.
