Carol Ann Schmucker, age 86, of Onsted, MI, passed away, January 18, 2025, at Kresge Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Chelsea, MI. She was born April 7, 1938, in Montpelier, OH, the daughter of Donald & Thelma (Batdorf) Leininger. On October 26, 1956 she married Charles R. Schmucker, Sr. in Angola, IN. He preceded her in death on August 15, 2009. Carol worked at the Brooklyn Big Boy for over 25 years. She was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and loved to watch her grandchildren’s sporting events. In later years, she enjoyed the activities at Kresge Heathcare especially playing bingo and doing art projects. Carol is survived by one daughter, Maryann (Mike) Messer; three sons, Steve (Debby) Schmucker, Scott (Cindy) Schmucker and Don (Cristie) Schmucker; her grandchildren, Steven, Kyle, Erin, Nicole, Michael, Manda, Ethan, Daina and Rachel; and many step grandchildren and many great grandchildren. In addition to her husband Charles Sr., she was preceded in death by three sons, Charles Schmucker Jr., Terry Schmucker and David Schmucker; one great grandson, Waylon Tselios, and three brothers, Larry Leininger, Butch Leininger and Pete Leininger. According to Carol’s wishes, cremation will take place and no services will be held. Please take a moment this spring to plant a flower in Carol’s memory.
