NAPOLEON TWP. — A 14-year-old boy is facing nine felony charges following a swatting incident that forced Napoleon Community Schools into lockdown earlier this month.

Jackson County Prosecutor Kelsey Guernsey announced Tuesday that the juvenile petition includes charges ranging from false threat of terrorism to using a computer to commit a crime.

Authorities say the teen was connected to three threatening calls made May 5 claiming a mass casualty event was about to happen at the schools.

The lockdown prompted a large emergency response involving police, fire, and rescue agencies from across the region.

Officers searched all school buildings and nearby areas before lifting the lockdown. No actual threat was found.
