LENAWEE CO. — Congressman Tim Walberg has filed signatures to appear on the August 4th Republican primary ballot for Michigan’s 5th Congressional District.
Walberg’s campaign says he is currently the only Republican candidate to submit paperwork ahead of the April 21st filing deadline. The longtime lawmaker currently serves as chair of the House Education and Workforce Committee.
In announcing his re-election bid, Walberg highlighted tax legislation, higher education reforms, health care cost efforts, Great Lakes protections, and federal investments brought back to the district.
Candidate filing deadlines and any additional challengers will become clearer after Tuesday’s submission cutoff.
