ONSTED — The investigation into the disappearance of a Lenawee County woman in the Bahamas is now being treated as a criminal case.

Police in the Bahamas say they have arrested the husband of Lynette Hooker and are questioning him in Abaco. Authorities have not said whether he has been charged, and they have not released additional details.

The U.S. Coast Guard has also opened a criminal investigation into the case.

Officials say Hooker, identified as a Lenawee County resident from Onsted, was traveling by small motorboat Saturday night near Elbow Cay. Investigators say her husband told authorities she fell overboard with the boat keys, causing the engine to shut off.

Police say he later paddled to shore and reported her missing early Sunday. Search and investigative efforts are continuing.

Family members have said they are still looking for answers as the investigation develops. Lynette Hooker’s daughter has also spoken publicly in recent days, saying she hopes the continued media attention leads to more information and, ultimately, closure for the family.
