A Lenawee County woman is missing at sea in the Bahamas following an incident over the weekend.

Authorities say 56-year-old Lynette Hooker of Onsted was reported missing Sunday after her husband told officials she fell overboard during a boat trip near Abaco.

According to the Hope Town Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department, Brian Hooker said the couple left the Abaco Inn on Elbow Cay around 7:30 pm Saturday night, heading toward their yacht when they encountered poor weather. He told authorities his wife fell overboard along with the boat key, causing the engine to shut off.

Officials say strong currents carried her away, and he eventually paddled and drifted to a marina in Marsh Harbour, where he reported her missing around 4:00 am Sunday morning.

Lynette Hooker is described as a 56-year-old white female last seen wearing a black bathing suit.

Search efforts involving local responders lasted approximately five hours but did not locate her. The investigation remains ongoing.
