WASHINGTON — Federal food safety officials are warning consumers not to eat a specific batch of frozen dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets sold at Walmart stores nationwide after testing found unsafe levels of lead.
The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service has issued a public health alert for 29-ounce bags of Great Value Fully Cooked Dino Shaped Chicken Breast Nuggets produced on February 10th, 2026. The product carries a best-if-used-by date of February 10th, 2027. The lot code is 0416DPO1215 and the establishment number is P44164.
Officials say the nuggets are no longer being sold in stores, so a recall was not requested. However, FSIS says some of the product could still be in home freezers. Consumers are being told not to eat the nuggets and to either throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.
The issue was discovered during routine surveillance sampling by a state partner. Federal officials say lead is especially dangerous for pregnant women, infants, and young children because it can damage developing brains and nervous systems. The amount found in the nuggets could be up to five times higher than the FDA’s interim reference level for children.
