ADRIAN — At their regular meeting tonight, the Adrian City Commission is set to issue a proclamation honoring Kade Opsal, the Adrian High School swimmer who won big at last month’s state championship.

According to the MHSAA, Opsal overcame a hand injury he suffered in the fall to finish runner-up in the 50-yard freestyle and win the 100-yard backstroke at the Lower Peninsula Division 3 Swimming and Diving Finals in Holland, setting a local record in the process.

The agenda for tonight’s meeting also includes a proclamation commemorating Arbor Day, as well as discussions regarding the street sign honoring Cesar Chavez, park rental rates, the cannons in Monument Park, and the intersection of East Maumee and Maple Street.

The commission may go into closed session to discuss a memorandum of understanding with Lenawee Now, before voting to transfer funds from the Downtown Development Authority for the Town Square project.

A full agenda is available to view at Adrian city dot com.

The meeting will take place at 6:00 pm at the Adrian City Chambers located at 159 East Maumee Street in Downtown Adrian.
