ADRIAN — Lenawee County is moving forward with a key step in its long-term waste management planning.
The Materials Management Planning Committee has voted to recommend hiring HDR Engineering to assist with completing the county’s Materials Management Plan.
The contract is expected to cost about $34,000 and will now go before the Lenawee County Board of Commissioners for final approval.
Officials say the consultant will help handle data analysis, coordinate with local municipalities, and ensure the plan meets state requirements.
County staff say the move is necessary, noting the department currently operates with limited personnel and wants to avoid potential rejection from the state at the end of the planning process.
If approved by commissioners, HDR will assist in finalizing the plan before it is submitted to both local municipalities and state regulators.
