Civitan Awareness Month Highlights Lenawee Group’s Service and Upcoming Events

ADRIAN — April is Civitan Awareness Month, highlighting the organization’s long-standing focus on serving individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

Locally, Civitan of Lenawee dates back to 1969 and has played a key role in supporting programs like the Hope Community Center, which provides recreation and social opportunities for residents. The group also continues its “Civitan Cares” outreach, delivering monthly items to hundreds of clients, a program that earned international recognition.

Vice President of Membership Bill Kenyon explains the organization’s origins and mission.

Upcoming events include the Lenawee County Special Olympics on May 15th at Siena Heights University and a visitor night for prospective members this Wednesday (tonight) at 5:30 p.m. at the Red Lobster in Adrian.
