Idella Iva Wegner, age 99, of Clinton, MI, passed away on March 26, 2026, at the Hospice of Lenawee Hospice Home in Adrian, MI. Idella was born in Palmyra Township, MI, on November 13, 1926, the daughter of the late Jacob Adam and Iva Mildred (Wilson) Rau. On October 8, 1944, she was joined in marriage with Richard Wegner, and they enjoyed over seventy years of loving marriage together. Idella worked for Ford Motor Company, both at the Rawsonville and Saline plants, for twenty- five years, before retiring in 1987.

Idella was a devoted church member all her life, first at the United Methodist Church in Adrian, MI, for over fifty years, and then at the Clinton United Church of Christ for twenty years. She was a multi-talented and focused individual who among many things enjoyed sewing, quilting, and embroidery. Collecting things, especially, dolls, dishes, and teapots, was another one of Idella’s favorite pastimes. Music was an important part of her life, both in playing the piano as well as dancing to her beloved polkas. When the weather permitted, you could often find her outside utilizing her gardening skills. Idella was also active in the Gorman Road Grange. Probably one of her most enjoyable times though was working with her husband Richard, breeding Clydesdale horses and being involved in horse shows.

Idella is survived by her children, daughter, Sharlette (Paul) DuFresne of Manistee, MI, son, Mark (Jan) Wegner, of Clinton, MI, and her daughter, Carla (Rick) Walker of Onsted, MI; nine grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two sisters. The family would like to thank Hospice of Lenawee and Cambrian Assisted Living for the wonderful care they provided to Idella.

Visitation for Idella will take place at the Clinton Chapel of Handler Funeral Homes on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. A graveside service will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Clinton, MI, with the Hospice of Lenawee chaplain, Chris Brundage, officiating. Memorial contributions in honor of Idella may be made to the Hospice of Lenawee or to the Clinton United Church of Christ.
