Cheryl Laharrague, age 78, passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, March 19, 2026.
Cheryl was born on April 9, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan, the oldest daughter of Fred and Velda (Schroeder) Maddux. After graduating from high school in Detroit, Cheryl went on to attend Eastern Michigan University where she earned her bachelor’s degree.
Cheryl met her future husband at a dance in Southfield, MI and from that night on she knew he was the one. On September 29, 1973, Cheryl was united in marriage to Jean “John” Laharrague at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Brooklyn, MI. They were just shy of celebrating 48 years together before his passing on September 5, 2021.
During her lifetime Cheryl worked in a variety of settings. She worked in the office at the Chicago Title Company and later on as a teacher’s aide at Lenawee Christian Schools. The roles she found most rewarding were wife and mother. Family was the center of Cheryl’s world, and she put all her energy into being the loving support they all benefited from. Cheryl enjoyed living next door to her sister and best friend, Cheri. They were tremendously close and had many adventures together, with Shipshewana being a favorite destination. Cheryl liked to stay busy and some of her favorite hobbies included crocheting, coloring, crossword puzzles and playing solitaire.
She will be missed by her children, Cheri Renee Laharrague (Chris) Hall and Dustin Jean Laharrague (Jessica Stahl); grandchildren, Noah Hall, Hunter Hall and Audrianna Laharrague. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jean; and sister, Cheri Maddux
Following Cheryl’s wishes, cremation will take place with no formal services. Burial will be private at Toledo Memorial Park.
