Verla “Mitzi” Lopez, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished member of her family, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026, at the age of 76, at Sparrow U of M Hospital, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Mitzi was a woman whose love for her family knew no bounds. She dedicated her life to caring for those around her, always offering kindness, strength, and unwavering support. Her warmth, sense of humor, and generous spirit will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She is survived by her loving children: her oldest son, Scott Thatcher, and his daughter, Kira Thatcher; her daughter, Jennifer Dick, and spouse Kevin Dick, along with their children Brandon Dick (Helaina Johnson), Alexander Dick (Carli Holstad), Spencer Dick, and Nathan Dick; and her youngest son, Joey Thatcher, and his son Jordan Thatcher. She was also blessed with a great-grandchild, Margaret “MJ” Thatcher, who brought her immense joy. Mitzi’s legacy lives on through her family, who will continue to carry her love, values, and memory in their hearts. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
