Lloyd Raymond Carey “Pa”, age 85, of Manchester, MI, passed away at Cambrian Assisted Living in Tecumseh, MI, on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 surrounded by his family. He was born on August 21, 1940, in Detroit, MI, the son of the late Clifford and Violet (Suttlif) Carey. Lloyd proudly served his country in the United States Navy. On May 25, 1981 he was joined in marriage to Jane Elizabeth Lawson and they have shared over 44 years together.

Lloyd was a career worker for Ford Motor Company, retiring from their Saline, MI plant in 1993. During his working years and even into retirement he and his wife Jane built several homes in the Manchester, MI area. After his retirement, he and Jane often spent time at their home in Gaffney, South Carolina.

Lloyd was very devoted to his family He particularly enjoyed traveling and sharing many senior adventures with his siblings and their spouses. He had a great sense of humor and excelled at playing jokes on everyone, but especially his grandchildren. He reveled in living a life full of mischief and adventure. In the last few years he found great satisfaction and enjoyment in spending time with his many friends at the Chelsea Senior Center.

In addition to his wife, Jane, Lloyd is survived by his children, Chris (Maria) Carey, Jon (Lisa) Carey, Brent (Bobbie) Calvert, Mark (Charis) Calvert, and David (Rhonda) Calvert; his grandchildren, Duncan (Angie), Phelan, Jaegar, Chase (Stacy), Brittany (Brett), Renee (Eric), Casey, Kelly, Logan (Nate), and Shayla (Tyler); eight great-grandchildren, Nola Jane, Genevieve Raye, Blake, Conrad, Brady, Bennett, Keira, and Tyler; his siblings, Judy Koslosky and Sandie (Morris) Carpenter; and his in-laws, John (Isolde) Lawson, Carolyn Lawson, Earl Hess, Rhonda Baldwin and many special nieces, nephews and extended family.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Beth; siblings, Albert (Jessie) Leger, Alice (Gene) Beaver, Margie (Dave) Noe, Jill (Al) Green; Larry Lawson, Lynn Lawson, Mary Hess and Al Koslosky.

According to Lloyd’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Cambrian Memory Care as well as Optimal Care Hospice for their wonderful care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you would spend time with those that you love, maybe at the park, but regardless of where, enjoying some ice cream.
