ADRIAN — Adrian Dominican Sisters are inviting the public to a presentation next month focused on one of Detroit’s most historic Black communities.

The event will take place Thursday, April 9th at 6 p.m. in the Weber Center Auditorium on the Adrian Dominican Sisters campus.

Marcia Black, co-director of archives and education for the Black Bottom Archives, will speak about Detroit’s Black Bottom neighborhood and Paradise Valley business district, which were once home to hundreds of Black-owned businesses before being demolished in the 1950s and early 1960s.

Organizers say the presentation will highlight the people, businesses, and cultural impact of the district, often referred to as Detroit’s Black Wall Street.

The event is open to the public and no registration is required.
