WASHINGTON — Congressman Tim Walberg called into the morning show with Dale Gaertner to discuss ongoing debates in Washington over homeland security funding and election-related legislation.
Walberg says the Homeland Security funding bill has already passed the House with bipartisan support and argues the delay in the Senate could have national security implications.
Federal funding for the Department of Homeland Security is currently tied up in broader budget negotiations, with some agencies facing disruptions during a partial shutdown while essential services continue operating.
Walberg also voiced support for the SAVE Act, which would require documentary proof of citizenship to register for federal elections, though federal law already requires voters to be U.S. citizens.
The proposal would change voter registration requirements nationwide and remains under consideration in the Senate.
