TECUMSEH – The Capital Improvement Plan was approved Monday by the Tecumseh City Council, outlining major infrastructure projects for the upcoming fiscal year.

City Manager Brett Coker presented the plan to council, noting the document serves as a 6-year framework but prioritizes projects for the 2026-2027 fiscal year. The plan was reviewed by the Tecumseh Planning Commission and recommended for approval ahead of the council vote.

The Capital Improvement Plan includes about $750,000 for Standish Dam repairs, roughly $859,000 in street work, a new police vehicle, cemetery equipment, fire truck salt boxes and wastewater plant repairs. It also begins planning for a downtown streetscape project estimated at $10 million.

City officials will incorporate the approved projects into the upcoming fiscal year budget, with construction timelines for major items like the Standish Dam project expected to begin as early as late summer 2026.
