ADRIAN — The Lenawee County Board of Commissioners is being asked to approve the purchase of a replacement vehicle for the county’s Buildings and Grounds Department.

Maintenance Superintendent Robert VanNieuwenhze says the request is part of the county’s Capital Improvement Plan for vehicle replacements.

Officials say a 2011 Ford van currently used by the department has developed significant mechanical problems. The proposal would move the planned van replacement up to this year while pushing the replacement of a Kubota utility vehicle to the 2027 budget.

The department is requesting approval to purchase a used van for the Buildings and Grounds Division at a cost not to exceed $40,000.

The request was reviewed by the county’s Personnel and Ways and Means Committee and sent to the full Board of Commissioners who approved the purchase.
