County to Dedicate Sheriff Richard L. Germond Building

ADRIAN — Lenawee County will honor the late Sheriff Richard L. Germond by dedicating the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office building in his name.

A public ceremony will take place Friday, May 22nd at 11 a.m. at the sheriff’s office.

Germond served 44 years in law enforcement, including 36 years as Lenawee County sheriff, making him the longest-serving sheriff in both county history and the state of Michigan.

Officials say he oversaw major public safety improvements during his tenure, including the creation of the county’s modern 9-1-1 and Central Dispatch system.

Germond died April 30th of 2025 at the age of 90.

Community members are invited to attend the dedication ceremony honoring his legacy of public service.
