WASHINGTON — Federal food safety officials say a nationwide recall of several frozen food products has expanded due to possible glass contamination.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service says Ajinomoto Foods North America is recalling nearly thirty-seven million pounds of ready-to-eat and not-ready-to-eat products, including chicken and pork fried rice, ramen, and shu mai dumplings.
The expanded recall includes items sold under the brands Ajinomoto, Kroger, Ling Ling, Tai Pei, and Trader Joe’s that were produced between October of 2024 and late February of this year.
Investigators say the contamination may have come from carrots used as an ingredient in the products. The items were shipped to retail locations nationwide, and some were also exported to Canada and Mexico.
Officials say there are no confirmed reports of injuries, but consumers who have the recalled products are being urged not to eat them and to either throw them away or return them to the store where they were purchased.
