
Mary Louella Greenwald, age 85, of Adrian, died Friday, March 6, 2026, at Majestic Care of Point Place. She was born April 13, 1940, in Raisin Township to Billy and Gertrude (Rachilla) Wojtowicz. On August 30, 1958, she married Carl A. Greenwald, Jr. in Clinton. He preceded her in death.
A woman of great determination, she notably graduated from Siena Heights University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1972 in the midst of raising four children. Mary had been employed by Adrian Public Library for 38 years as a Library Assistant, retiring on October 31, 2006. She was a former member of Business and Professional Women and a Lenawee 4-H Leader. She was the first woman member of the Adrian Evening Lions Club and served as a Past President.
In her spare time, Mary enjoyed gardening, sewing and crafting, and trying her luck at nearby casinos. She had a special love for animals, especially her beloved cats. Quiet and reserved by nature, she was very kind and caring to those she encountered and was always there for her family as their matriarch.
Mary is survived by her two daughters, Carla (Walter) Kirschke of Adrian and Cynthia Powell (Harry Earl) of Toledo; two sons, Timothy and Thomas Greenwald both of of Adrian; ten grandchildren, Dan (Stephanie) and Tyler (Kayla), Benjamin, David, and Mary (Derrick), Ryan (Julie), Kyle, Tyler (Jaime), Emily (Dustin) and Trevor (Ashley); great-grandchildren, Margaret, Garrett, Abigail, Noah, Timothy, Autumn, Leo, Dex, Alexandria, Benjamin, Johnnie, Samson, Eleanor and Jett.
In addition to her husband, Carl, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert (Esther) Wojtowicz; and her sister, Margaret J. Wojtowicz.
The family will receive friends for visitation at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home in Adrian on Wednesday, March 11, from 1:00 until a funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m. Private interment will take place in Oakwood Cemetery in Adrian.
Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Arrangements have been made with the guidance of the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Adrian.
