Kevin Scott Baur, age 51, of Tecumseh, died suddenly on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital. Born December 10, 1974, in Petoskey, he was the oldest of three children from the union of the late Stephen and Judy (Ries) Baur.
Kevin grew up in Grand Rapids and was a 1993 graduate of East Kentwood High School. He furthered his education by earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Eastern Michigan University. For the past 12 years, Kevin has been employed with The Reyes Coca-Cola Company as a district sales manager for the New Hudson distribution center.
Kevin met the love of his life, Jennifer Lee Smith of Tecumseh, in his hometown of Grand Rapids while she was attending college there. They married on December 4, 2004, in Tecumseh where they made their home and raised their two children. They are members of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Tecumseh.
An avid gun advocate and collector, Kevin enjoyed going shooting at nearby ranges in his spare time. A music lover, he enjoyed all genres and especially liked attending live music. He was a lifelong fan of the Detroit Lions and loved Stephen King novels, possessing a vast collection that he enjoyed reading. He also enjoyed hanging out with his buddies and taking care of his truck. A proud dad, he never missed a sporting event, dance competition or school activity of either of his children, and was a solid foundation and role model for them, ever-ready with level-headed advice. Above all, he loved being a husband and father, and he passionately loved and protected his family, never shy to show his emotions in conveying his deep love for them. Together, they enjoyed annual camping in Traverse City and spring break road trips to Florida or Hilton Head Island. He left an incredible legacy and his presence will be sorely missed.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Jennifer, are his children, Aubrey and Brayden Baur at home; his sister, Kellie (Ryan) Konecny of Wayland, MI; his brother, Kurt (Elizabeth) Baur of Grand Rapids; his parents-in-law, David and LoAnn Smith of Tecumseh; siblings-in-law, Jeremy (Michelle) Smith of Adrian and Jason (Lindsey) Smith of Portage, MI; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members; his lifelong friends from Grand Rapids who were like brothers; and his beloved Goldendoodle napping companion, Victor.
