WASHINGTON — The U.S. House has passed legislation from Fifth District Congressman Tim Walberg involving access rules at national parks.

The measure, called the America the Beautiful Motorcycle Fairness Act, deals with how annual national park passes apply to motorcycles.

Under the policy, one annual park pass would allow two motorcycles entering together to use the same pass. Current rules often require each motorcycle to have its own pass when riders arrive separately.

The change follows earlier administrative decisions that limited the pass to one motorcycle before federal officials later restored the two-bike policy.

Walberg says the bill is intended to ensure equal access for motorcycle riders visiting national parks and public lands.

That was Congressman Tim Walberg.

The legislation would write the current policy into federal law rather than leaving it as an administrative rule.

The bill now heads to the U.S. Senate for consideration.
